Ray Cates (Adolphus) is a writer and teacher in Ocala, Florida. He has lived in Ocala since 1957. He grew up in Elizabethton Tennessee. served in the U.S. Navy and Air Force.
In 1961 he was part of the invasion force at the Bay of Pigs in Cuba.
He graduated from the University of Florida with a B.A.E. and MA and also from Blackstone School of Law with a LLB. He also attended Stetson University, Liberty University in graduate studies programs.
He taught at the University of Florida as a graduate student. He also taught at Webster College in Ocala and City College in Gainesville and a long list of secondary schools in Marion, Lake, Sumter and Volusia Counties. He now owns Oceans High School http://oceanshighschool.com
