Ray Cates is a writer and teacher in Ocala Florida. He has lived in Ocala since 1957. He grew up in Elizabethton Tennessee. He served in the U.S. Navy and Air Force.
In 1961 he was part of the invasion forces at the Bay of Pigs in Cuba.
He graduated from the University of Florida with a BAE and MA and also from Blackstone School of Law with a LLB. He also did graduate work at Stetson University and Liberty University.
He has taught at the University of Florida ( as a graduate student). He also taught at Webster College, Central Florida Community College, and City College.
